Ingredients
⅓ cup brown sugar
2 Tbs chili powder
2 Tbs paprika
2 tsp dry mustard
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp ground black pepper
½ (12 fluid oz) can beer
1 (minimum 3 pound) whole chickenPreheat the grill to medium-high heat, about 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat, about 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Step 2
Mix dry ingredients in a small bowl. Place a half-full can of beer in the center of a plate.
Step 3
Pat the Chicken dry with a paper towel. Place the whole chicken over the can of beer with the legs on the bottom; Rub the seasoning mix over the entire surface of the chicken.
Place chicken, standing on the can, directly on the preheated grill.
Step 4
Cook chicken until juices run clear, about 1 hour 15 minutes. A thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh, near the bone should read 165 degrees F
Step 5
Remove chicken from the grill and discard beer can. Cover chicken with a doubled sheet of aluminum foil, and allow to rest in a warm area for 10 minutes before slicing.
